Jeff Travers joined Turtle Survival Alliance in the fall of 2025. He grew up in Massachusetts and attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC. After graduation, Jeff promptly established roots in DC and began his career in the nonprofit sector. His professional experiences encompass finance, operations, communications, and fundraising. Most recently, Jeff served as the Chief Operating Officer at two national cancer organizations, the Cancer Support Community and the Tigerlily Foundation. He began his career at Whitman-Walker Clinic, a Washington-based HIV/AIDS service organization. Along the way, Jeff earned an MBA at George Washington University.
Jeff has volunteered with several local and national non-profit organizations that work in health, education, and the arts. Jeff still lives in DC with his college-aged kids, Neil and Emma, and his partner, Chris. In his free time, Jeff enjoys cooking and baking. Jeff and Chris enjoy long walks in Rock Creek Park, hiking, and traveling. A recent memorable hiking trip brought them to the Azores in Portugal, where Jeff (almost) made it to the top of Mt. Pico, the highest mountain in Portugal.
Jeff is excited to learn everything he can about turtles and tortoises and support TSA’s mission to secure a brighter future for these magnificent animals.
