Join The Explorers Club on March 30 for an in-person lecture with Turtle Survival Alliance CEO & President Marc Dupuis-Desormeaux as he shares the remarkable story behind efforts to save one of the world’s most elusive and endangered tortoises, the Pancake Tortoise (Malacochersus tornieri) of northern Kenya.
In this talk, Marc will trace how a chance field encounter helped spark a new conservation movement, leading from early surveys and local partnerships to the development of a National Conservation and Recovery Plan led by Turtle Survival Alliance and partners. Drawing on years of fieldwork, he will highlight the critical role of community-led conservation, ongoing discoveries, and plans to expand protection efforts across East Africa.
The evening will include a reception and audience Q&A.
