Skylar brings a holistic approach to grants and program management developed over 10 years securing and overseeing private and government funding for nonprofits and private companies. His career in wildlife conservation began in 2015 when he joined the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) as the Grant Manager for the Indo-Burma, Wallacea, Ghanaian Forests of West Africa, and Maputoland biodiversity hotspots. In that role, he managed grantees through the full grant life cycle from letter of inquiry through closeout, including report reviews and site visits at remote grantee offices to conduct evaluations and capacity building workshops. It was during these years that he initially worked with Turtle Survival Alliance (TSA) for the first time through a grant to the Myanmar program in 2015.
Most recently, he worked at Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) as Program Manager for Global Program Development, coaching and managing 50+ field programs to secure funding from governments and multilateral institutions such as DEFRA’s Darwin Initiative, USAID, the EU, and the UN. Skylar is excited at the opportunity to use the skills developed at a donor like CEPF and BINGO like WCS to scale TSA’s growing portfolio of programming.
He currently resides in Manhattan, NYC, with his dog, Bali. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, scuba diving (PADI Certified), traveling, music, and writing. Skylar holds a B.A. cum laude from American University, specializing in Global Environmental Policy.
