Kim Gray is the Senior Curator of Birds & Ectotherms at the Dallas Zoo, providing strategic leadership for avian and ectothermic animal programs, conservation initiatives, and assurance populations. She has more than 30 years of experience working in Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA)–accredited institutions and previously held senior curatorial roles with San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance.
Her career includes leading and supporting head-start, assurance, and recovery programs for imperiled species in North America and internationally, including turtles, crocodilians, amphibians, and lizards. These efforts span collaborative conservation work in Canada, the United States, the Pacific Islands, and West Africa.
Kim is an accomplished scientific illustrator and has published illustrations, book chapters, and peer-reviewed papers focused on reptile and amphibian taxonomy, husbandry standards, and field monitoring. She is actively engaged in global conservation leadership through Species Survival Plan coordination and service within IUCN specialist groups.
Her professional focus is on advancing best practices in managed care, assurance colony development, and integrated conservation planning to support the long-term recovery of threatened and endangered species.
