The Fort Worth Zoo’s Executive Director, Michael Fouraker, has been with the Zoo since 1993 and brings over 50 years of experience in animal care, conservation, and zoo management.
He has focused his career on building partnerships that support global conservation initiatives. Michael’s field experience includes work in Africa, India, South America, North America, and throughout the Caribbean.
An advocate of sustainability and active wildlife management, Michael is a founder and board President of the International Elephant Foundation, the Caribbean Wildlife Alliance, and the Zoological Disaster response organization, ZDR3 as well as a board member of the International Iguana Foundation, the International Rhino Foundation, and the Zoological Association of America; these organizations along with Turtle Survival Alliance contribute millions of dollars annually in support of rare species and their habitat.
Michael has served on various committees for the World Conservation Union (IUCN), as a board member of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association, and as a member of the scientific advisory board for UNESCO.
