The TSA is thrilled to announce that a verdict has been reached in a tortoise smuggling case in Madagascar from July 2011. One of the smugglers arrested, along with three accomplices, were sentenced this week to two years in prison and a fine equivalent to $574,000 USD.
This is the highest fine ever levied for tortoise smuggling in Madagascar and gives us hope that the tide is turning!
