TSA-India was recently recognized for their conservation efforts by the state government of Uttar Pradesh. Dr. Shailendra Singh, Program Director for TSA-India, accepted the award on behalf of the team during a ceremony which concluded Indian National Wildlife Week.
TSA-India was nominated for their notable achievements this year including the successful repatriation and rehabilitation of over 1000 confiscated Spotted Pond Turtles, their development of a gharial conservation program and their recent rescue of a critically endangered Ganges River Dolphin
TSA began working in India in 2004 and is head-quartered in Lucknow. TSA-India is currently working on 16 long-term conservation projects in five areas, which directly benefit 15 endangered species of turtles, crocodiles and dolphins and their habitats.
